- November 26, 2002 was the
death anniversary of A.Baranauskas, a famous literature
classic, linguist, mathematician, the author of Lithuanian
cantos. This date was commemorated not only in Anyksciai,
but in Seinai too. The bishop’s remains lie in the
Maiden Maria Chapel of Seinai Cathedral. The bishop of
Vilkaviskis Rimantas Norvila and Edvard Samsel from the
Elk sacrificed the Mass.
- A religious art exhibition
was opened in the House of Lithuanians in Seinai. The
anniversary celebration and the international conference,
where Lithuanian and Polish scientists read papers, took
place. The people of Anyksciai and Lithuanians of Poland
sang Baranauskas’ cantos.
